From Washington, D.C.
- Take Canal Road West from Georgetown. Bear left at the first stop light after the entrance for Georgetown University (on the hill to the right).
- Proceed for approximately 1.5 miles, and turn left into the Fletcher's Boathouse entrance, directly across from Reservior Road.
- WATCH OUT ! This is an especially dangerous entrance, as cars are moving very fast along Canal Road in both directions and visibility is not great.
Reservior Road, D.C.
- Turn left off MacArthur Boulevard onto Reservoir Road. The Fletcher's Boathouse entrance is immediately opposite the terminus of Reservoir at Canal Road.
- WATCH OUT FOR TRAFFIC! This is a dangerous intersection. Even though trucks supposedly are banned from Canal Road, I have seen giant 18 wheelers and cement trucks on Canal Road, roaring through the Reservoir\Canal Road intersection at high speeds.
Arizona Ave.
- Proceed to intersection of Arizona and Canal Road; stay in your left lane.
- Turn left onto Canal Road.
- Do not try to make the 120-degree right turn into Fletcher's directly from Canal Road. Instead, turn left onto Reservoir Road opposite the Fletcher's Boat House entrance. Make a U turn at "V" St., and enter Fletcher's from Reservoir. It is almost impossible, and quite dangerous, to try to enter Fletcher's when proceeding East on Canal Road.
From Maryland
- Take I-495 to Exit 40, Cabin John Parkway. Follow the signs to Glen Echo, bearing left (east) towards Washington, D.C.
- Follow Cabin John Parkway to Washington, D.C. Follow Cabin John Pkwy. East. It will become Clara Barton Parkway in Maryland, and then Canal Road at Chain Bridge in the District. Continue straight even as the road name changes. You will be driving parallel to the Canal's initial 7 1/2 miles.
- Proceed past Chain Bridge, staying in your right lane. Fletcher's is located on Canal Road on the right a half-mile after the light at Arizona Avenue Fletcher's has a dangerous blind entrance, so be careful, and follow the next instruction carefully.
- Do not try to make the 120-degree right turn into Fletcher's directly from Canal Road. Instead, turn left onto Reservoir Road opposite the Fletcher's Boat House entrance. Make a U turn at "V" St., and enter Fletcher's from Reservoir Road.
From Virginia
A. From Key Bridge
- Turn left onto Canal Road at the end of Key Bridge in the District.
- At the second red light, turn left onto Canal Road, so that you continue parallell to the Canal.
- After about 1.5 miles, turn left into the Fletcher's Boathouse entrance, opposite the intersection of Reservoir Road and Canal.
B. From Chain Bridge
- Turn right on the District side of Cahin Bridge onto Canal Road. Stay in your right lane.
- Proceed straigh on Canal Road at the Arizona Avenue light (underneath the Crescent Trail railroad bridge.) Fletcher's is on the right on Canal Road 1/2 mile after the light at Arizona Avenue Fletcher's has a dangerous blind entrance, so be careful, and follow the next instruction carefully.
- Do not try to make the 120-degree right turn into Fletcher's directly from Canal Road. Instead, turn left onto Reservoir Road opposite the Fletcher's Boat House entrance. Make a U turn at "V" St., and enter Fletcher's from Reservoir Road.
